If your student's WCPS-issued devices and/or power adapters is damaged or lost/stolen, please follow the steps below to resolve the issue.

WCPS understands that accidents happen. However, to ensure responsible use of district-issued devices, a tiered approach will be implemented to address both accidental and avoidable device damage.
Accidental Damage
This includes unintentional spills, drops, or malfunctions not caused by negligence. First Incident:

Student Device Insurance
Protect Your Student's Device: New Optional Insurance Available!
Starting in the 2024-2025 School Year, WCPS has partnered with a third-party insurance provider, Securranty, to provide optional student device insurance for just $24.95 a year. This insurance helps cover costs associated from accidental damage and loss of your student's device. WCPS will continue to handle the device repairs / replacements process. While Securranty will cover all the costs as long as the insurance is purchased before any incident occurs.

Repair Costs incurred by Parent / Guardian
The following charges may be assessed for WCPS-issued devices and power adapters that are damaged or lost/stolen while in a student’s care.

If your student has had three (3) or more incidents where their devices was deemed lost, stolen, or damaged beyond repair, your student may be charged the full replacement value (up to $400) on the third and each subsequent replacement device.
Please note:
- In order to give staff ample time to review the incident report, the device, and conduct an investigation (when necessary), invoices will not be assigned at the time of the report.
- If you have questions regarding the invoice, please contact your Student's school administration about any obligations charged to the student for incurred costs due to being lost or stolen.
